Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CONTACT YOU FOR A SESSION?

Every client is different from the next, so the process will look different for everyone! It boils down to this: Once you reach out with some information about who you are and why you’re seeking therapy, we’ll schedule a free 15-minute consultation. During the consult, we’ll discuss your goals and my approach to therapy — if you think it’s a good fit, then we’ll get a session on the calendar.

Aside from some initial questions about your goals, relationships, family, physical health, and mental health, what the sessions will look like from there is up to you! We’ll work together to create a plan for your sessions that works best for you. We’ll discuss the specifics of this when the time comes, but I’ve outlined what this can generally look like below — and I am always open to questions.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN A SESSION?

This will vary depending on what your goals are, how much of a structure you prefer in your sessions, and how you’re feeling week to week. Generally, though, my therapeutic approach invovles empowering clients to feel more in touch with their emotions, more confident in themselves, and more accepting of the scarier things that can come up in life — whether that’s relationships, life adjustments, or identity discovery. Simply put, I’m here to be a guide through the more overwhelming and stressful parts of existing, whatever that may mean to you.

I pull from several different techniques, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and LGBTQ+ informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches differ slightly from one another, but at their core, they all involve exercising self-compassion, identifying your strengths, and developing the confidence to confront what scares you (at your own pace, of course).

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

My standard fees are $250 for a 45 minute session and $300 for a 60 minute session. That said, I understand that affording therapy can be difficult. Because of this, I offer a sliding scale and am happy to adjust my fees on a case by case basis, depending on need. If you have any questions about this, please ask!

DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?

Unfortunately, I do not accept insurance at this time. That said, I am flexible in my rates and am open to discussing what works best for you and your financial needs. I am also happy to provide statements for insurance reimbursement, but this will depend on your out-of-network coverage. Please contact your insurance company to learn more about what this could look like for you, as this will depend on your specific healthcare plan.

WHEN ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR A SESSION?

I am available ASAP for sessions if you are located in NY or NJ. I am avaialable for telehealth (phone or video) sessions Monday-Thursday — with morning, afternoon, and evening timeslots available. I also have limited availability on Friday mornings. I am flexible and can likely fit you into my schedule, please reach out to coordinate a time that works for you.

THIS ALL SOUNDS GOOD, BUT I’M SCARED.

That makes sense — starting therapy is a big and vulnerable step! You can absolutely bring this fear into the session, all feelings are welcome. If you have any other questions that were not answered here, please contact me to set up a consultation and we can talk through them.
